MAURICE CRAMER
1883 - 1886

Maurice Cramer, the fourth prosecuting attorney, was the younger brother of Wilson Cramer, the first prosecuting attorney. They are the only set of siblings to hold the office. He was born in Cape Girardeau in 1857 and was educated in the public schools and in the law department of Ann Arbor University and Columbia College in New York City, graduating in 1881. He served two terms as prosecuting attorney and was a Cape Girardeau Common Pleas Court Judge from 1889 to 1893. After retiring from the bench he moved to St. Louis and became an Assistant District Attorney. He later moved to Chicago.
