APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Jeff Cole requested a correction to the minutes. Jeff was not present at the previous meeting as the
minutes indicated.
After the appropriate correction is made a motion
was made to accept the minutes.
PRESENTATION
BY VISITING GUEST:
Steve Sitton who is from SEMO University gave a
presentation on a federal Department
of Labor grant providing 50% reimbursement for
training provide to employees. This grant has been approved through 2005 and awaiting 2006 approval. See
attachments for instructions and
documentation that is needed to apply.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Shane gave the financial report with a net
balance of $7289.44 See the enclosed attachment for additional information.
Shane added he may need to make additional purchases in the future for the
upcoming CCEMT-P class.
OLD BUSINESS:
WMD drill update: Tami
Kiefer reported the drill will be tomorrow April 24th 2004 at 9:00am.
There will be 100 victims. Any participating services need to be there by
8:00am for a safety briefing. Any radio traffic needs to be on 340.
EDUCATION:
CCEMT-P
update: The CCEMT class has already been approved. Any service sending students will
qualify for the 50% reimbursement
grant.
There are
available seats remaining in this class. Take advantage
of the 50% reimbursement and send your staff.
NEW BUSINESS:
St.
Francis Medical Center has formally received its level III trauma
designation. All major traumas according to the BEMS regs state the patient shall be transported to the nearest most appropriate facility or
designated trauma center. The final decision should be based on your medical director and your written
protocols.
A
discussion was held in regards to hospitals and ER Drs. denying Patient orders. This issue will be tabled for future discussion.
Terri
Ellsworth reported there is a 42 million dollar homeland security grant awarded to the
state of Missouri. 3 million has been ear marked for EMS to be
utilized for training and WMD.
LEGISLATIVE:
Senate
Bill 68 has an addition of a sales tax issue. St. Francis Co. And St. Gen is considering the possibility of the use of this bill.
Senate
Bill 1107 affects ambulance districts and that bill has been rescinded.
