SEMO EMS NETWORK MINUTES
September 14, 2001
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Mary Chappius, Sharon Dykes, Kent Ford, Shane Lockard, Larry Chasteen, Jeff
Cole, John Thrasher, David Cooper, Allen Benson.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
A motion was made to accept the minutes as written. Minutes approved.
FINANCIAL REPORT
:
A motion was made to pay all submitted bills. Perry Co.Mem.Hosp $19.76 for
postage, Mary Chappius $48.00 for Kent's plaque, and EMP $818.44 for the Airway
and IO trainer. This gives us a balance of $6896.09. See the insert for
additional information.
OLD BUSINESS:
PEPP Course/Equipment Purchase.
Shane has purchased the Airway and IO trainer at a cost of $818.44 funded by
the network, to be used for the upcoming class.
Dave Cooper discussed the need to have MEMSA's support for legislative change
in regards to the Lagers issue. Sharon Dykes will discuss this at the next
MEMSA meeting.
Mary Chappius reported she has received the letter of incorporation from the
state for the network. We have been unable to locate the Bylaws. Mary will
contact Dan Barry who was the attorney who handled the Bylaws at that time for
further input.
HIPPA regulations are still pending. No new report. Web site for HIPPA

Medicare updates - Are still pending. No new report.
EDUCATION
:
PEPP Class: A discussion was held as to the location and what days would be
better for the class. This would consist of a 2-day class. It was discussed to
have it in a more central location possible Sikeston or Cape. The tentative
dates and time is November 6-7 2001 8am -5p
NEW BUSINESS:
Sharon Dykes reported there has not
been
at a SAC meeting and has no information to report. 2010 committee has not met
since April due to a change in leadership.
Sharon Dykes was appointed in May to the MEMSA board. She will be filling Dan
Sweeza's seat. Her term will expire in 2003. Congratulations to Sharon. See
the insert for additional information.
David Cooper discussed recent unannounced BNDD visits at several network
services. Violations have been given for issues that no one had previous
knowledge of. It was discussed to invite BNDD to our next meeting to inform
all EMS Managers. David will contact them. See the insert for additional
information.
Mary Chappius discussed with John Taylor the cost of a web site for the
network. The cost would be $150 a yr. North Scott has Showme.Net and is
willing to let the network use it. Mary will contact John Taylor.
ADJOURNMENT:
Special thanks to Kent Forde for so graciously opening his home to us and
hosting the meeting and providing a great meal.
