Firearm Permits
Permits to acquire a handgun may
be obtained at the Sheriff’s Department in Benton. After hours or weekends permits may be obtained at the Scott County Jail.
There is a ($5.00) charge for
each permit.
A driver’s license or valid photograph
identification is required.
All applicants
are checked through NCIC for wanted and criminal history.
The purchaser must:
Show
proof of Scott County residency for (6) months prior to application
Have
no felony convictions
Have
no domestic violence convictions
Not
be habitually in an intoxicated or drugged condition
Not
have been treated for a metal illness within a (5) year period immediately
preceding application
Not
be on probation or parole
